Pashtuns Face Discrimination at Domestic Airports: Awami National Party Spokesperson

Independent Report. Peshwar. Nov. 21
The Awami National Party’s central spokesperson, Engineer Ihsanullah Khan, has condemned the discriminatory treatment of Pashtuns at domestic airports across Pakistan. Khan demanded an end to this biased behavior, citing the recent deactivation of Bacha Khan Airport in Peshawar, which has severely impacted international and domestic flights.¹

Pashtuns living abroad, particularly in the Gulf countries, contribute significantly to Pakistan’s economy through remittances. However, when traveling, they are forced to use Islamabad Airport due to limited flight options from Peshawar. This results in lengthy wait times, often several hours, for entry and boarding. Pashtuns face discriminatory behavior, sometimes under the guise of security or other pretexts.
_Discriminatory Treatment_: Pashtuns face biased behavior at airports, perpetuating a sense of marginalization.
– _Limited Flight Options_: Peshawar’s airport deactivation has reduced flights, causing inconvenience to travelers.
– _Economic Impact_: Pashtuns contribute significantly to Pakistan’s economy through remittances.

Khan emphasized that Pashtuns are an integral part of Pakistan and deserve equal treatment and respect. The Awami National Party urges authorities to address these concerns and ensure inclusive treatment for all citizens.
