The Awami National Party (ANP) has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Jani Khel (Bannu) and Tirah, which have claimed over 20 precious lives in the last 24 hours.¹ Provincial President Mian Iftikhar Hussain slammed the provincial government’s apathy, stating that it has left the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in a state of despair and helplessness.
Recent Terrorist Attacks:*
Jani Khel (Bannu):_ A suicide attack on a check post resulted in the loss of 12 lives.
– _Tirah:_ Terrorists’ firing killed 11 security personnel.
Mian Iftikhar Hussain emphasized that maintaining peace is the provincial government’s responsibility, but it has failed miserably. Instead of addressing the situation, the government is focused on protests and political interests, putting the entire province’s lives at risk for the release of one individual.
The ANP has expressed solidarity with the families of the martyrs and demanded immediate action against terrorism. The party reiterated that the central government’s silence and inaction in the face of deteriorating security are unacceptable.
The international community has also condemned such terrorist attacks, with the United Nations Security Council urging all states to cooperate actively with the Government of Pakistan to hold perpetrators accountable and bring them to justice.
