Federal Minister of Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, Assures Support for Textile Sector

Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister of Commerce, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to boosting the textile and garment sector’s growth, value addition, and export expansion. He acknowledged textiles as a vital pillar of Pakistan’s economy and pledged to address industry challenges [2).

During a meeting with the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) delegation, Khan emphasized the need to increase exports in existing markets and capitalize on new value-added products to tap into global markets. He expressed confidence that the government’s initiatives would help the textile sector overcome current challenges and enhance exports.

APTMA, a trade organization representing Pakistan’s textile industry, comprises 222 textile companies and contributes significantly to the country’s economy, with a 67% share in annual exports.¹ The association plays a crucial role in safeguarding business interests and facilitating government services.

The Ministry of Commerce has been actively engaging with international partners to strengthen trade relations and explore new opportunities. Recently, Khan met with various dignitaries, including the Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, and the Iranian Minister for Industry, Mining, and Trade, Mohammad Atabak.²
