Pakistan’s Largest Folk Festival, Lok Mela, Concludes Today tc

Islamabad, November 16,: The Folk Festival of Pakistan, Lok Mela, will hold its closing ceremony today at Lok Virsa in Islamabad, featuring the country’s best artisans, awards for top pavilions, and other shields.¹ Federal Minister for Information, Culture, and National Heritage, Attaullah Tarar, will be the guest of honor.

Yesterday, European Union Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Riina Kionka and British High Commissioner Jane Marriott visited the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa pavilion, praising the provincial artisans’ skills and thanking Tourism Authority for their hospitality. The ambassadors were gifted traditional shawls by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority.

The 10-day Lok Mela, which began on November 8, celebrates Pakistan’s rich cultural diversity, showcasing regional dances, traditional cuisine, and handicrafts.² Over 500 artisans from across Pakistan have participated, alongside cultural displays from diplomatic missions, including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Indonesia.

– _Cultural Performances_: Traditional music, dance, and folklore from Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan
– _Handicrafts_: Unique artisans’ creations, including textiles, pottery, and jewelry
– _Food Festival_: Traditional Pakistani cuisine, including Sajji, Haleem, and Kashmiri tea
– _International Participation_: Cultural displays from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Indonesia

The festival aims to promote Pakistan’s cultural heritage, unity, and diversity, while fostering cross-cultural understanding and exchange.
