Sir Syed University starts a 4-year B.Tech Artificial Intelligence program

KARACHI, November 14, 2024 – For the first time in Pakistan, the National Technology Council gave accreditation to Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET) to start the B.Tech Artificial Intelligence program under the supervision of the Computer Science and Information Technology Department.

This 4-year degree course is equivalent to all the relevant programs of the BS computing department introduced in the universities of Pakistan. Concerning practical, it is much better than the rest of the degree programs. As per the instructions of NTC, 70% of the course consists of practical to provide skills to the students.

The zero visit of the program was held in which the National Technology Council invited eminent academicians as examiners to review the curriculum developed by Sir Syed University and the facilities being provided to the students. The team of the zero visit included the renowned educationists Vice Chancellor of Muhammad Ali Jinnah University, Zubair Ahmed Shaikh, Ghazanfer Ullah Khan of UIT and Member of NTC Islamabad, Ghulam Muhammad. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor SSUET, Dr. Munawar Hussain, Dean Faculty of Computing & Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Asif, Director QEC, Dr. Muhammad Rehan, Additional Registrar, Zubair Hameedi, and Chairman Computer Science Department, Dr. Walij Haider were along with the team.

The experts added some contemporary subjects to the curriculum to update it with international standards and declared the facilities provided by Sir Syed University to the students and teachers as satisfactory, these facilities include the latest high-speed laboratories, modern classrooms, library equipped with new and modern books, highly qualified teachers and all necessary facilities are available. The university is offering subsidies in fees for the students who are getting admission to this program.

The experts were of the view that this program will provide the industry with graduates equipped with modern technical skills and capable of playing a significant role in developing the industry according to contemporary demands. The academicians reiterated their determination to make this program of Sir Syed University a successful model and introduce it to other universities as well.
