LOK VIRSA FOLK FESTIVAL 2024: CELEBRATING PAKISTAN’S RICH CULTURAL HERITAGE

Islamabad, November 11, The 10-day Lok Mela festival, organized by Lok Virsa under the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture, commenced on November 8 at the Lok Virsa Open Air Theatre.

The festival has attracted large crowds from twin cities, showcasing the country’s rich cultural diversity. Lok Mela promotes national unity and harmony among federating units, providing a platform for master craftsmen and artisans to display their skills.

Key features of this year’s festival include:

– Participation of foreign missions from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Indonesia, and Uzbekistan, showcasing their cultural crafts.
– Dedicated space for youth to showcase their talents.
– Exhibition of traditional crafts, folk music, and dance performances.
– Food festival featuring regional cuisine.

Objectives of Lok Mela:

– Promote and preserve Pakistan’s cultural heritage.
– Encourage master craftsmen, folk artists, and artisans to continue their crafts.
– Provide a platform for cultural exchange between provinces and foreign countries.

Lok Virsa Executive Director, Muhammad Javed Iqbal, emphasized the importance of preserving Pakistan’s cultural heritage, saying, “Lok Mela is a celebration of our diverse culture, promoting unity and harmony among our people.”

The festival will continue until November 17, offering a unique opportunity to experience Pakistan’s vibrant cultural landscape.
