Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat had a meeting with columnists and analysts in which educational challenges faced by Punjab and it’s possible measures were discussed. The Education Minister informed the columnists about the reforms in the education sector and gave a briefing on the up-gradation of schools, TNA test, outsourcing and other issues. Rana Sikandar Hayat clarified that no school is being privatized. Rumors are being spread in this regard. Privatization and outsourcing are two different things and there is a difference between the two. He said that it has been decided to run schools with poor performance under public-private partnership. Outsourced schools are still owned by the state. The Education Minister further said that Matric-Tech is starting from March. Due to the changing trends, IT education has become necessary, which is being addressed in the course now. He said that commerce colleges are being converted into e-commerce colleges. The education minister informed about the revolutionary reforms in the education system and added that all recommendations in e-transfers, vice-chancellors and CEO appointments were rejected, because merit and efficiency have been prioritized in every initiative. Senior columnists appreciated his efforts for the betterment of educational affairs. On this occasion, the writers said that under the leadership of Rana Sikandar Hayat, the education system of Punjab is being developed on the right lines. The columnists assured their full support for education reforms and said that education reforms are inevitable, for the improvement of the sector. In the meeting, it was also agreed to assist in creating an effective action plan for out-of-school children.
