A comprehensive training session for Public Information Officers (PIOs) was held in Quetta to educate them on their duties and responsibilities under the Right of Access to Information Act, 2017. The event was organized by the Pakistan Information Commission, Information Department Balochistan, and Center for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI).
Pakistan Information Commission’s Chief Information Commissioner, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, emphasized the importance of ensuring public access to information as per Article 19-A of the Constitution of Pakistan ¹. Other notable attendees included Secretary Information Imran Khan, Director General Information Muhammad Noor Khetran, Ejaz Hassan Awan, and Punjab Information Commission’s former Information Commissioner Mahboob Qadir Shah.
The training session aimed to equip PIOs with the necessary knowledge to facilitate public access to information, promoting transparency and accountability in federal institutions. This initiative is part of the Pakistan Information Commission’s efforts to implement the Right of Access to Information Act, 2017, and ensure citizens’ right to information ¹.
