In a landmark decision, the Civil Court of Landikotal, Khyber District, has ordered children to provide their elderly father with a monthly allowance of Rs. 10,000 and a room in their shared residence. The elderly man, a resident of Loi Shalman, had been evicted from his home by his own children.

Advocate Zohaib Shinwari represented the elderly man, arguing that children are obligated to support their aging parents, as emphasized in Islamic teachings and higher court rulings ¹ ² ³. The court’s verdict stated that the children will provide their father with financial support and accommodation, recognizing his inability to earn a living at his advanced age.

This ruling highlights the importance of respecting and caring for one’s parents, a fundamental principle in Islam ¹ ². The Quran and Hadith emphasize the significance of treating parents with kindness and compassion, and this decision serves as a reminder of this essential moral obligation.
