Five students & one police cop among nine dead, 33 others injured in Mastung blast

QUETTA: As many as nine persons including five students and one police cop were killed while 33 others -mostly children-got injured in a remote control bomb explosion near a Girls High school in Mastung city on Friday morning.
The reports reaching here suggested that the remote control explosive device was planted in a motorcycle near the Girls High school which went off with a big bang.
As a result of the blast, five children, a police constable and a passerby were killed while 35 others -mostly children -injured.
Two of the injured succumbed to serious wounds in the hospitals.
Soon after the blast, the police, local administration and rescue teams reached the spot of explosion and started rescue operation. The bodies of deceased children and others and injured persons were shifted to the local hospitals of Mastung including District Headquarter Hospital and Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Memorial Hospital for treatment.
According to the Medical Superintendent of Mastung hospital, Dr Nisar Ahmed Baloch, at least 30 injured were brought in the hospitals where condition was critical. However the necessary treatment is being provided to the injured persons. Meanwhile, over 25 injured were moved to the Sandeman Provincial Hospital Quetta and Trauma Center where condition of three is stated to be critical.
The emergency was already declared in the hospitals of Quetta and Mastung.
The Provincial Minister for Health, Bakht Muhammad Kakar and other concerned high ups reached the Sandeman Provincial Hospital and supervised the provision of medical treatment facilities to the injured of Mastung blast.
Later, some injured were shifted to the CMH Quetta.
