QUETTA: The Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti has reiterated his government’s resolve to defeat the terrorists through education and consciousness.
He said that although we are grieved over the incident of terrorism occurred in Mastung, but our resolve for elimination of terrorism has not been weakened and ultimately, we would fight terrorists.
The Chief Minister was addressing the ceremony of laptops distribution at the Government Girls Postgraduate College here on Friday.
Addressing the ceremony, Chief Minister referred to the terrorism act in Mastung and said that terrorists attacked the innocent children considering them soft target. He said that we would defeat the terrorists and wouldn’t let our institutions deserted getting afraid of such cowardly acts of terrorism.
He said that we are providing educational opportunities to our intelligent students in the prestigious institutions of the world.
He also said that we want to give higher opportunities of education and progress by creating self confidence among them.
The Chief Minister recalled that we had announced to provide laptops to the girl students 40 days ago, and now the commitment is being fulfilled today.
He said that the work would be started on the faculty block named after Professor Nazima Talib soon. This project would be completed within a year, he added.
He said it is our desire to make the educational institution exemplary one of the province and for the purpose, we would extend full government patronage.
He exhorted the girl students to work hard and brighten the name of the country and province all over the world.
The Chief Minister mentioned that we want to make our youth educated and honourable persons of the society. But on the other hand, terrorists are making them suicide bombers by instigating them against terrorists.
The decision has to be made by the people and youth of Balochistan that what future they want, he insisted adding that we would defeat the terrorists through education and consciousness.
The Chief Minister urged the girl students to give clear message that youth of the province totally reject the terrorism and every subversive act.
He said that the terrorists sitting abroad instigate the youth of province in the name of its backwardness and use tactics to mislead them through social media.
He also said that an organized campaign is run against the state, as he referred to the propaganda made on social media about the alleged incident of sexual assault of a female student on occasion of the SCO.
That was a conspiracy to defame the country and nothing else, he added.
The Chief Minister on the occasion also referred to the Benazir Bhutto Scholarship Programme launched for the first time in Balochistan for educational development. Under this programme, the wholehearted opportunities are being provided to the students to acquire higher education from Matric to Ph.D.
Extraordinary quota has also been allocated for the civilian martyrs and minorities under the programme, he maintained.
He on the occasion also said that biggest issue of Balochistan is corruption, and we have to eliminate it and bribery in order to get the fruits of development to common men.
He said that we have lot of expectations of bright future from our girls and we want to see them empowered.
He said that at the moment, five female deputy Commissioners and an Assistant Commissioner have been performing in the province, and they have proved their mettle as good administrators.
There would also come a day when the Chief Minister of the province would also be a female, he added.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister distributed the laptops among the girl students and also announced to establish hi-tech lab and provide 50 pink scooties and more laptops to the girls on merit.
Earlier, the Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani appreciated the steps being taken by the Chief Minister for development of education in the province.
