Islamabad, October 31, – In a significant move to combat the rising threat of chemical and explosive attacks, INTERPOL’s 1st Working Group Meeting for Project Watchmaker in Pakistan concluded successfully in Islamabad from October 29-31, 2024.
The event brought together officers from Pakistan’s provincial police forces, Counter-Terrorism Departments (CTD), the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA), and the National Forensic Agency. The meeting aimed to strengthen national coordination against chemical and explosive attacks.
Mr. Alan Grimmer, Unit Coordinator of INTERPOL’s CBRNE/CMX, emphasized the importance of international collaboration in combating growing threats during his welcoming remarks. The meeting focused on enhancing knowledge and application of INTERPOL’s specialized databases, data management, and search tools tailored for chemical and explosive cases.
Additionally, the event aimed to improve INTERPOL’s data exchange systems to facilitate effective information sharing. By fostering cooperation and knowledge sharing, Project Watchmaker aims to enhance Pakistan’s capabilities in preventing and responding to chemical and explosive threats.
This initiative demonstrates the commitment of Pakistani law enforcement agencies and INTERPOL to ensuring national and global security. The successful meeting sets the stage for continued collaboration and capacity building in the fight against terrorism and organized crime.
