The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has emphasized the need for private sector participation in policy making to boost Pakistan’s economy. LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad stated, “Unless the private sector is consulted before policy formulation, it will be challenging to revitalize the economy.”
Shad, along with Senior Vice President Engineer Khalid Usman and Vice President Shahid Nazir Chaudhry, expressed these views while addressing a delegation from the City Traders Association, led by President Sheikh Muhammad Fayaz. Former LCCI President Muhammad Ali Mian and former Senior Vice President Ali Hussam Asghar also shared their insights.
The LCCI’s call for private sector involvement in policy making is crucial, as effective policy making requires collaboration between stakeholders ¹. This approach can help address concerns about policy making in Pakistan, where bureaucracy plays a significant role ². By engaging the private sector, Pakistan can foster a more inclusive and sustainable economic growth strategy.
