October 27, : Baltistan Division observed Kashmir Black Day with solemn protests and rallies, condemning India’s illegal occupation of Kashmir since October 27, 1947 ¹.
In Skardu, Ghanche, Shigar, Kharmang, and Rundu, various programs and rallies were organized at each district headquarters, led by respective Deputy Commissioners. A rally was held from Boys High School No. 1 Skardu, culminating in a ceremony at the District Administration Complex. Deputy Commissioner Skardu, Captain (Retd) Arif Ahmed, presided over the event.
Speakers at the rally denounced India’s atrocities against Kashmiris and emphasized the need for the international community to uphold UN resolutions, ensuring Kashmiris’ right to self-determination through a plebiscite ¹.
This day holds special significance for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, marking the beginning of India’s occupation. The unresolved Kashmir dispute remains a pressing concern, with ongoing human rights violations ¹.
