Gilgit(P.R)October 21, 2024:Karakoram International University organized a ceremony to mark World Iodine Deficiency Day, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of iodine.
The event, jointly organized by KIU’s Department of Agriculture and Food Technology and Nutrition Cell, GB Health Department, featured expert talks and discussions.Speakers, including KIU Registrar Dr. Abdul Hameed, Prof. Dr. Sher Wali, Head of Agriculture and Food Technology Dr. Sartaj Ali, Director GINOR Dr. Asif Jilani, and representatives from GB Health Department and World Food Program, stressed the significance of iodized salt consumption.They noted that collective efforts have significantly controlled iodine deficiency in Gilgit-Baltistan.The ceremony also highlighted World Food Day, emphasizing the need for balanced nutrition and awareness about healthy eating habits.
