Karachi, Oct 20. The 93rd Urs of Hazrat Saman Sarkar, and the annual fair, was held near Pangrio with great enthusiasm and devotion. The provincial Minister for Auqaf, Religious Affairs, Zakat, and Ushr, Syed Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi, graced the event by his participation. He was warmly welcomed with the traditional Sindhi Ajrak and Topi. The minister paid his respects at the shrine of Hazrat Saman Sarkar by laying a floral wreath, performing the ceremonial “Chadar Poshi,” and offering prayers. Accompanying him were prominent figures including Syed Tanveer Haider Shah, Malik Sikandar Khan, Arbab Amanullah, MPA Dada Halipoto, and MPA Taj Muhammad, who also participated in the rituals. While taking to media, Minister Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi expressed that Sindh is the land of saints, which has always propagated the message of peace, love, and brotherhood. He further stated that, since taking charge of his ministry four months ago, he has been striving to meet the expectations of Pakistan People’s Party Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, by working towards the betterment of Auqaf Department. The minister emphasized efforts to revise rental rates and improve the management of Auqaf properties. Discussing the challenges faced by visitors at shrines, the minister assured that a comprehensive plan is being developed to address these issues, ensuring that zaireens across Sindh’s shrines will have access to essential facilities. He also acknowledged the lack of clean drinking water at Hazrat Saman Sarkar’s shrine and announced that a package would soon be provided to improve accommodation and other amenities at the site. In response to questions regarding new recruitments, the minister confirmed that the Auqaf department would be initiating a hiring process soon, with a preference for local youth. The 93rd Urs celebrations included a variety of traditional sports and activities such as horse racing, kabaddi, musical performances (Sufi Kalams), and a circus, in addition to vibrant bazaars set up for the fair.
