Khyber, Oct. 19,

The Higher Teachers Association has urged the government to permanently employ teachers hired on a temporary basis in primary schools. This demand comes after contract teachers’ contracts were terminated, resulting in staff shortages and school closures in remote areas

Finance Secretary of the Higher Teachers Association, Jamil Khan, and other teachers addressed a press conference at the District Press Club Khyber Landi Kotal. They emphasized that despite being relieved of their duties, the teachers have yet to receive eight months’ worth of salary.

The association has appealed to Khyber’s MNA and MPA to take notice, warning of a protest rally in front of the provincial assembly and secretariat if the issue remains unresolved.

The teachers’ role in shaping society is pivotal, as they are the custodians of societal values and play a key role in building a civilized and educated community ¹ ². The government must prioritize resolving their issues to ensure the smooth functioning of educational institutions.
