TORKHAM BORDER TRADE HAMPERED BY UNNECESSARY TAXES, POLICIES

Customs clearing agents at the Torkham border have stressed the need for a soft policy to boost trade with Central Asia.

Speaking at the District Press Club in Khyber, candidates for the Torkham Customs Clearing Agents elections, Aamal Shinwari and Mujeeb Shinwari, highlighted issues faced by traders.
Unnecessary taxes and policies hindering trade
FBOR’s import duty tax
– Provincial government’s 2% tax
– Faulty scanners at Torkham
– NLC’s Rs. 8,000 fee per vehicle

Aamal Shinwari demanded the abolition of the provincial tax and installation of additional scanners.
