QUETTA: The Provincial Minister for Health, Bakht Muhammad Kakar has expressed anguish over the shortage of medicines in public sector hospitals and directed to the concerned authorities to put the supply chain of the Medicine Supply Department (MSD) on modern lines.
He also directed to increase working capacity of all vertical programmes of the health and PPHI. In addition to this, all available resources should be utilized for welfare of the general public.
These and similar other directives were issued by the Provincial Minister for Health during his surprise visit to the Director General Health services here the other day.
During the visit, the Minister was briefed about the vertical programmes and ongoing development projects of the health department.
Bakht Muhammad Kakar directed to extend the framework agreement to meet shortage of the medicines immediately.
He also expressed dismay over the coverage of routine immunization and as such adding he directed to take steps for increasing its coverage and monitoring.
In addition to this, he also directed to ensure merit and transparency in purchase of medicines and equipment and recruitments.
He said that the equal distribution of primary, secondary and treachery care facilities and medical staff is need of the hour.
Meanwhile, the Minister Health presented a sketch of the comprehensive plan to meet the challenges of the present era. He announced to set up a central command and control center at DG Health office so as to issue directives and monitor the situation in case of any health emergency.
Besides, the Minister issued directives to conduct special inquiry into the cases reported from the province especially in Zhob recently.
He directed to submit inquiry report of the polio case in Zhob to him by Monday (today).
