University of Balochistan Hosts Successful International by Conference on Linguistics and Literature (10th ICLAP, 2024)

Quetta, Oct. 05 University of Balochistan organized a two-day international conference in collaboration with Linguistics Association of Pakistan (LAP), on October 3-4, 2024. The mixed mode of the conference brought together renowned linguistic experts from national and international levels. One hundred research presenters who belonged to different universities of Pakistan presented their research work. Fifty five researchers presented their work in-person and forty five researchers presented their research work virtually.
Inaugural Session
The conference was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Faiz Muhammad Kakar, former Health Minister of Balochistan, and Pro: Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Bazai, Vice Chancellor, University of Balochistan, Dr. Muntazar Mehdi, President (LAP), Dr. Naseebuallah Seemab, Dean, Faculty of Literature and Languages, highlighted the significance of such conferences in inculcating the culture of research, particularly in the field of literature and linguistics. Moreover, they also highlighted raising awareness about the importance of indigenous languages and their promotion.
The notable guests who attended the inauguration ceremony includes, Hafiz Tahir, Secretary Colleges, Higher and Technical Education, Pro: Dr. Naheed Haq, VC, SBK Women’s University, Dr. Shabir Ahmed Lehri, VC Bolan University.

Closing Ceremony and Resolution
Honorable Provincial Minister of Education, Ms. Rahila Durrani, graced the closing ceremony of the conference and distributed the shields and certificates among the participants. The participants of the ICLAP highlighted the absence of a comprehensive language policy. The minister has asked the participants to develop a draft of provincial language policy. We, the participants of ICLAP 2024, hereby formulate the language policy tailored to the linguistic realites and diversity of Balochistan.
