Speakers disapprove Post Graduate College, Landi Kotal affiliation with FATA university

KHYBER, Oct 03: People from different walks of life objected to the affiliation of Government Post Graduate college , Landi Kotal with University of FATA and demanded of the Provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to revise its decision in the best interest of the local students.

Speaking in “Meet the Press” program held in Landi Kotal press club, district on Thursday Tehsil Chairman Haji Shah Khalid, President Siyasi Ittehad,Landi Kotal Murad Hussain Afridi,Pakistan People Party District Chief Shah Rehman Shinwari, representative of Khyber Law Forum lawyer Zohaib Shinwari, Scholar Dr Sadaqat Khan, students leader of Post Graduate College, Landi Kotal Raj Wali, Nabeel Shinwari and others said that education was inevitable for all kinds of development however anti-students and education policies proved unserious attitude of the incumbent government toward it.

According to the University Act 2012,every university has its own jurisdiction and as per rules Post Graduate College, Landi Kotal should be affiliated with University of Peshawar (UoP) but ironically, the government have decided to affiliate it with FATA University that is injustice to the students of Landi Kotal, they remarked.

They maintained that how can the local students approve the affiliation with the institution that has not been recognized by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC).

Besides being located near to district Khyber, the UOP had a rich history in addition with provision of necessary facilities compulsory for studying and teaching as compared to the FATA University, they opined.

They came hard on Parliamentarians from the constituency and said they had turned blind eyes to the miseries of the masses.

They vowed that all forums including legal ones would be utilized to safeguard the interests of the students.

It is to be stated here that students of Post Graduate College, Landi Kotal have boycotted their classes for the last six days against the affiliation of the college with the FATA University.
