Media has to support truth against baseless propaganda & false narrative against State, emphasizes Chief Minister

QUETTA: The Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti has stated that the provincial government firmly believes in the freedom of press, however, the media would have to support truth against the baseless propaganda and false narrative against the State.
In a message on the World News Day observed on Saturday, the Chief Minister said that the World News Day is being observed under the theme: Choose the truth.
He said that the fact and truth based news made for the reformation of society helps correct the system.
The standard of journalism is also maintained with the quality reporting done with sincerity and truthfully.
He said that the circumstances of different regions and provinces of Pakistan are quite different and more hard work is to be done by the media persons than other provinces in the investigation of news due to the limited communication system.
He said that the trend of traditional journalism has also changed in the era of social media.
The Chief Minister said that the authenticity of any news is necessary in the changing circumstances as the unauthentic news cause resentment, disappointment and disorder in the society.
He stressed that the truth in the stories should be the resolve and hallmark of the media persons, he added.
He said that the social media has created revolution in spread of the information on one hand, it has also caused harms in the society.
He said that the click beat and sensationalism has pushed back the process of truth and authenticity on social media.
However, the traditional journalism has been playing its positive and responsible role contrary to such environment.
