Sanghar. Sept.19In a groundbreaking move, the Sindh government has launched a new self-injection method called “Depo” to address the pressing issue of population growth. This innovative approach empowers women to take control of their reproductive health, administering the injection every three months ¹.

A high-level meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Imran Hassan Khawaja, brought together representatives from the Population Welfare Department and various non-governmental organizations to discuss the initiative. Population Welfare Officer Shahabuddin Memon provided a comprehensive briefing on the department’s performance, while Ashfaq Ali Sitheo, provincial coordinator of the implementing NGO, emphasized the voluntary nature of the self-injection ¹.

The urgency to address population growth was underscored by Dr. Khawaja, highlighting the need for sustainable solutions. Sindh’s population is predominantly young, with 56% of its 50.4 million residents between 15 and 64 years old ². This demographic presents both challenges and opportunities for economic growth and development.
