PM SHEHBAZ SHARIF CHAIRS MEETING ON ELECTRIC VEHICLES

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting on the promotion of electric vehicles in Pakistan, emphasizing the government’s commitment to prioritizing measures to encourage their adoption.

The Prime Minister stressed that electric vehicles will not only conserve precious foreign exchange by reducing petroleum imports but also provide an eco-friendly alternative.

 

 

1. Development of a comprehensive financial model for electric vehicles.

2. Consultation with the Ministry of Finance and State Bank of Pakistan.

3. Completion of the E-Vehicle Policy by November.

4. Improvement of licensing regulations for domestic electric vehicle manufacturing.

5. Consultation with all provinces, federal units, and stakeholders on the E-Vehicle Policy.
The Prime Minister’s directives aim to accelerate Pakistan’s transition to environmentally friendly transportation, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and promote sustainable development.
The government is taking proactive steps to promote electric vehicles, including:

1. Duty exemptions on electric vehicle imports.

2. Tax incentives for manufacturers.

3. Development of charging infrastructure.These measures demonstrate Pakistan’s commitment to mitigating climate change and embracing clean energy solutions.

Laptop Scheme for Students*
In a related development, the Prime Minister announced plans to extend the laptop scheme to students, promoting digital literacy and education.
This initiative aligns with the government’s vision for a knowledge-based economy and sustainable development.
