Chaman, September 6, – A seminar was held at the Chaman Press Club to discuss the crucial role of journalists in the polio campaign in the district. Assistant Commissioners Sadram Ilyas Baloch and Sardar Mujeeb Jogezai addressed the gathering, while District Area Coordinator Dr. Asad Safi and District Community Communication Officer Ashraf Achakzai provided insights on child health.
Speakers emphasized that polio has been eradicated globally, except in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and stressed the importance of media’s role in its eradication. Despite global efforts, 17 polio cases have been reported in Pakistan and 13 in Afghanistan.
The success of the national polio campaign, they noted, hinges on the awareness and cooperation of media professionals and parents. Without their collective efforts, polio eradication remains an unattainable goal.
The seminar underscored the responsibility of every citizen, including journalists, to contribute to making Pakistan polio-free.
