The monthly salary of the current State Bank Governor, Jamil Ahmed, is Rs 4 million, while other benefits are additional, Finance Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar informed the National Assembly.
In a written response to a question by Muslim League-N lawmaker Tahira Aurangzeb, the minister revealed that the former Governor, Raza Baqir, received a salary of Rs 2.5 million, which is Rs 1.5 million less than the current governor’s salary.
In addition to the salary, the State Bank Governor is entitled to several benefits, including house rent allowance, maintenance, and furnishing of the residence, two cars with drivers, 1200 liters of fuel per month, and four staff members with a salary of Rs 18,000 each. The State Bank also pays the governor’s electricity, gas, water, entertainment, and mobile phone bills.
The minister’s response has sparked debate and criticism regarding the high salary and benefits of the State Bank Governor.
