Peshawar, August 29, 2024 – Ghulam Ahmad Baloor, a senior leader of the Awami National Party and former parliamentarian, has announced his decision to quit politics and leave Peshawar.

According to family sources, Baloor has decided not only to leave politics but also to leave Peshawar and move to Islamabad.

In a statement, Baloor said that he could not meet the standards of certain forces, which is why he was defeated in four consecutive elections. He also mentioned that his brother, Bashir Baloor, and nephew, Haroon Baloor, were martyred.

Baloor, who served as Federal Minister for Railways twice and Federal Minister for Local Government once, has been contesting elections from Peshawar since 1988.
