Islamabad, August 27 – The All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran (APAT) has announced a nationwide complete shutdown on August 28, Wednesday, against the government’s “cruel” taxes and trader-unfriendly schemes.
APAT President Ajmal Baloch said that traders across the country will close their businesses in protest against the unjust taxes. He stated that no negotiations are being held with the government, and talks will only happen after the strike.
Baloch accused the government of using tactics to delay the strike, citing some pro-government traders who are speaking on behalf of the authorities. He demanded that the government withdraw the trader-unfriendly tax law, warning that if not, a two-day strike will be announced.
He highlighted the significant decline in sales, saying traders cannot afford to pay taxes. Baloch also mentioned the burden of electricity bills and shop rents, leaving traders unable to afford even basic necessities.
