Mardan, August 21, 2024

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has launched a major operation in Mardan, raiding cold storage facilities and food businesses in the Mardan Industrial Estate. According to the Food Safety Authority spokesperson, over 400 kg of expired and unhealthy meat was seized from a single cold storage facility and immediately discarded. The owners of the facility were fined heavily and further action was taken under the Food Safety Act.

DG Food Authority Wasif Saeed appealed to citizens to report such elements to the Food Safety Authority promptly, so that strict action can be taken against them. Food Minister Zahoor Shah Toru directed to deal with those playing with public health with iron hands, stating that the mafia involved in food adulteration deserves no leniency.
