GILGIT-BALTISTAN CABINET MEETS TO DISCUSS FLOOD RELIEF EFFORTS

_Gilgit: Aug. 19. The 12th Provincial Cabinet Meeting Chaired by Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan according to details
the 12th meeting of the Gilgit-Baltistan Provincial Cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan. The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, advisors to the chief minister, the chief secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan, the inspector general of police, and administrative secretaries of provincial departments.

The meeting began with a prayer for the souls of those who lost their lives in the recent floods and the Thore Dammar car accident. Director General Disaster Management Authority Shuja Alam briefed the meeting on the damages caused by the recent torrential rains and floods in Gilgit-Baltistan and the relief efforts made by the provincial government. He reported that 23 locations were affected by flash floods and 8 locations by riverine erosion, resulting in significant damage to 157 houses and 17 bridges. The provincial government has initiated emergency relief and rehabilitation measures under the leadership of Additional Chief Secretary (Electricity) Captain (Retd) Mushtaq Ahmed.
