USTA MUHAMMAD, AUGUST 10: On the special instructions of Deputy Commissioner Usta Muhammad Jalil Ahmed, Executive Engineer Public Health Ahson Bashir has started cleaning the watercourse of the Gandakhel Water Supply Scheme to store water in the ponds using heavy machinery. This is to ensure that the water from the Kerthar Canal’s Zeli branch reaches the ponds without any obstacles.

Earlier, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Usta Muhammad Jalil Ahmed, attended by Mayor Usta Muhammad Muzaffar Khan Jamali and local notables, where it was decided to fill the ponds first. The Executive Engineer Public Health was directed to store water in the ponds of Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Usta Muhammad Water Supply Scheme and then in the Gandakhel Water Supply Scheme.

The Executive Engineer Public Health has started cleaning the watercourse of Phase 2 after filling the ponds of Phase 1, to store water in the Gandakhel Water Supply Scheme. He said that all available resources are being utilized to store water in the ponds within the given timeframe, which has solved the problem of clean drinking water for the citizens. The cleaning of the watercourse of the Gandakhel Water Supply Scheme has been started, and water supply will be started soon.

He appealed to the public to be patient and assured that the Public Health Engineering Department is taking all necessary measures to address the problems of the people. The water shortage was due to the non-availability of water from the Irrigation Department, but now that the water supply has started, the department has also started storing water in the ponds and will start supplying water soon. He said that the Provincial Minister for Health, Sardar Zada Faisal Khan Jamali, is taking personal interest in ensuring the storage of water in the ponds.
