TORKHAM BORDER: TRADE ON BRINK OF COLLAPSE DUE TO TAD POLICY, REVISION URGENTLY NEEDED

Independent Report
Landikotal, August 8: The All Torkham Customs Clearing Agents Association and Transport Union held a press conference at the Landikotal District Press Club, Khyber, to express their concerns about the TAD policy, which has brought trade to the brink of collapse at the Torkham border.

Speakers, including Amanullah Shinwari, Azimullah Shinwari, Shah Jehan Shinwari, Qari Nazeem Gul, and Gulab Shinwari, urged both countries to revise the policy, open TAD offices at the border, and issue temporary documents to transporters. They also demanded that transporters be issued tokens to cross the border while waiting for documents to be processed.

The speakers criticized the current system, which requires transporters to pay a $100 fee online, and demanded that measures be taken to eliminate third-party involvement, which leads to additional costs for transporters.
