GOVERNMENT APPOINTS Veteran ministry INFORMATION OFFICER SHAFQAT ABBAS AS DIRECTOR GENERAL OF PID LAHORE REGIONAL OFFICE

Islamabad,(independent Report ) August 2, – In a significant move, the Government of Pakistan has appointed seasoned information officer Shafqat Abbas, a Grade 20 official in the Information Group, as the Director General of the Press Information Department (PID) Regional Office in Lahore. This appointment, effective from July 15, 2024, underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening its information dissemination machinery.

A distinguished and accomplished officer, Shafqat Abbas brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served in various high-profile positions within the Ministry of Information and its affiliated departments and organizations. His illustrious career includes stints as Director Home Publicity in PID Islamabad, Deputy Director General Information Service Academy, and Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Additionally, he has had the privilege of serving as PRO to former Prime Ministers Shaukat Aziz and Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, as well as Director/PSO in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Prior to this appointment, he held the position of Director General of PID Lahore Regional Office, further solidifying his reputation as a seasoned information management expert.
