WAPDA Emergency Complaint Center in Dera Murad Jamali Non-Functional, Citizens Face Difficulties

Dera Murad Jamali, July 19, 2024: The WAPDA Emergency Complaint Center in Dera Murad Jamali has been non-functional, causing difficulties for citizens in case of electricity breakdowns. According to WAPDA rules, all central and sub-offices are required to have a landline phone, help line, and complaint center to address consumer complaints and provide assistance in emergency situations.

However, the complaint center in Dera Murad Jamali has been inactive, and the office is closed during official hours and public holidays. The only presence is a register and a deserted table, with no staff or linemen available to address complaints.

Citizens are forced to wait until the next morning to report their complaints, causing inconvenience and distress, especially during the current heatwave. It is worth noting that, according to WAPDA’s notification, any unauthorized person or private electrician is not allowed to tamper with WAPDA’s equipment, and doing so is a punishable offense under the Pakistan Penal Code.

Therefore, we demand that the K-Electric Chief, SDO, and Line Superintendent in Dera Murad Jamali take immediate action to make the complaint center fully functional and ensure that staff is available 24/7 to address citizen’s complaints.
