Independent Report

QUETTA: The Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and Relief Commissioner, Balochistan, Jahanzeb Khan conducted a comprehensive visit to several districts, including Killa Saifullah, Zhob, Sherani, and Loralai.
Accompanied by Commissioner of Zhob Division Tariq ur Rehman, the RC/DG PDMA’s visit focused on assessing the most vulnerable communities within these districts.
The Deputy Commissioners guided the RC/DG through the critical areas, briefing him on the local challenges and the conditions of the sites.
A key part of the visit involved discussions on the district-level monsoon contingency plans. The Relief Commissioner/DG PDMA directed to the Deputy Commissioners to ensure preparedness and effective response to potential monsoon-related disasters.
He also visited the landslide-affected area on the N-50 National Highway in Danasar, District Sherani.
The DG PDMA, along with the Deputy Commissioner, evaluated the ongoing efforts of the Levies force and National Highway Authority (NHA) teams. He commended their prompt response to the landslide incident.
Additionally, the DG PDMA also visited the earthquake-affected area of Dargai Eshpalo in Tehsil Makhiter, District Loralai.
He inspected the damaged infrastructure and properties, and distributed relief goods among the affected residents. Immediate directives were issued to the Deputy Commissioner of Loralai to ensure the swift provision of additional relief goods to those in need.
Needless to mention here is that the DG PDMA paid the visit on directives of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, which underscores the commitment of the Balochistan government to address and mitigate the impacts of natural disasters, ensuring that vulnerable communities receive the necessary support and resources promptly.
