Chairman Senate, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Wednesday urged the nation to unite and work for the development and prosperity of Pakistan.
In his message on the occasion of Ashura Day, the chairman senate said, “Ashura day is very important in Islamic history and remind us how Imam Hussain (RA) and his devoted companions rendered supreme sacrifices for the protection of Islamic values ??in the Battle of Karbala”.
The chairman senate said that this battle was a struggle for the exaltation of Islam, its sanctity and protection which speaks of the principled stance, unshakable determination, bravery and sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions.
He said that the great sacrifices made by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions are torchbearer for us in every field of life. “By learning through such a struggle, we can determine our future and overcome problems easily”, he added.
“Such courageous act of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) gives us a lesson that we should never bow down in front of oppression and injustice but stand firm against it no matter how much price we have to pay for it”, the chairman senate said.
Yousuf Raza Gilani emphasized on remembering the importance of dialogue and understanding between different schools of thought on the occasion of Ashura.
He said, “Let us renew our resolve to promote the fundamental principles of Islam: patience, compassion, tolerance, dialogue and social justice”.
“Let us adapt our lives according to the teachings of Imam Hussain (RA) and achieve success in this world and the hereafter”, the chairman senate said. He appealed to all Pakistanis to unite and work for the development and prosperity of Pakistan and prayed, “May Allah grant us the ability to learn from the great sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions and move forward with courage and perseverance”.
