Over 5,000 personnels of police, Levies, FC to be deployed on 9th & 10th Muharram in Quetta

QUETTA: The Commissioner and Administrator Quetta, Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat has stated that exceptional arrangements have been made to ensure security on 9th and 10th Muharramul Haram in Quetta.
He said that over 5,000 personnels of police, Levies and Frontier Corps (FC) would be deployed on 9th Muharram and Ashura (today and tomorrow) in Quetta.
He said that Pak Army would remain stand-by on Ashura-e-Muharram while the aerial surveillance of the procession would also be made.
In addition to this, the monitoring of the Ashura procession would also be done through 1,000 CCTV cameras installed in different parts of the city.
The Commissioner and Administrator Quetta was speaking to the media persons about the arrangements made for 9th and 10th Muharram in the metropolis on Monday afternoon.
He informed that 20 suspects have been taken into custody. They are being interrogated at the moment, he added.
Regarding cleanliness, Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat said that around 300,000 tons of garbage have been lifted from different localities of Quetta as part of the special cleanliness drive.
To a query, the Administrator said that we have decided to privatize the sewerage system in Quetta.
He said that all the street lights would be installed on the route of Ashura procession by Monday night.
