Islamabad, July 8, 2024: President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the Election (Amendment) Bill 2024, which amends Section 140 of the Election Act 2017. According to the amendment, the relevant High Court Chief Justice will be consulted if a serving judge is appointed to the Election Tribunal. The President approved the bill under Article 75 of the Constitution. The Election (Amendment) Bill was passed by the National Assembly on June 28 and the Senate on July 8.
