Govt’s Operation Azm-i-Istehkam to weaken country further, charges Maulana Fazlur Rehman

QUETTA: The central Ameer of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), Maulana Fazlur Rehman has described the government’s re-energized national counter-terrorism campaign i.e., Operation Azm-i-Istehkam as Operation Adm-i-Istehkam saying that “this operation would weaken the country further.”
He categorically stated that the democracy and parliament have lost their case while the country is being weakened further.
He said that the country’s constitution is the national pact and our guarantee to live under one roof (of the country). He said that our constitution determines the authority of the provinces and so the jurisdiction of every institution of the country.
He said that the there is least writ of the State in the country. The armed organizations are controlling the areas in open whether it in Khyber Pakhtunkhaw or Balochistan.
He said that he doesn’t know much about Balochistan, but he can firmly say that police kept them closed in the thanas in the KP after sunset.
He said that we have to ponder upon as who brought the country and circumstances at this juncture.
The JUI chief stressed the need to set new course of survival and stability of the country, for we are holding talks and negotiations with different political parties.
These views were expressed by Maulana Fazlur Rehman while addressing press conference after meeting with leaders of different political parties here at the residence of JUI’s provincial Ameer, Maulana Abdul Wasey here on Monday.
Also present on the occasion were the President of National Party, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, Chairman Pashtoonkhaw National Awami Party (PkNAP), Khushhal Khan Kakar, Provincial President of Awami National Party, Asghar Khan Achakzai, chairman of Hazara Democratic Party, Abdul Khaliq Hazara and others.
The JUI Chief said that he had meeting with the political leaders of Balochistan. He said that it was a consultative meeting after the election situation.
He said that we are political people and believe in political dialogue. He said that there is a need to set new course for stability and survival of the country. He said that the Establishment is fond of dominating the institutions.
He said that we value the alliance of different parties and so of the opposition ones, and don’t oppose any alliance. Raher we believe that the process of political dialogue should remain continued among the political parties, and hopefully, these would bear positive outcome, he added.
To a query, the JUI chief criticized the government’s action and policy against those observing protest in Chaman and said that the enemy-like treatment is being done with the protestors.
He said that special incentives are given to the people living in the bordering areas all over the world, and so the same should also be given in the country. He said that the people of Chaman are forced to lead miserable lives. He said that those who have brought them (people of Chaman) to this situation are cruel.
He said that JUI is the party of people of Pakistan and it is not restricted to any sect or segment of the society.
He said that it is our desire to present concept of unity in the country in a serious manner.
