Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Meets Pope Francis in Vatican City

VATICAN CITY: June 4, 2024: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Pope Francis at the Vatican City today during his visit to Europe. The Interior Minister was accorded a warm welcome upon his arrival in the Vatican City. During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to promote peace, brotherhood, interfaith harmony and dialogue. Pope Francis commended Pakistan’s efforts towards immediate repair and reconstruction of Churches in the aftermath of Jaranwala tragedy.

While talking to Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Pope Francis said that my message to the people of Pakistan is peace, we all should work together for establishing peace in the world. He also stated that the Prime Minister of Pakistan has invited him for a visit and he will try his best to visit Pakistan soon.

Pope Francis expressed concern over the situation in Palestine, stating that it is a cause of huge concern. He added that he stays updated on the humanitarian situation in Palestine through daily briefings with workers engaged in relief efforts. He emphasized that the interfaith dialogue and harmony is the key to resolve issues. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi thanked him for his effective stance on the Palestine issue, which has been widely appreciated.
The Interior Minister apprised Pope Francis regarding Pakistan’s sacrifices and efforts in the war against terrorism. He lauded the services of Pope Francis towards promoting peace and harmony in the world. He said that the protection of minorities is top priority of the Government of Pakistan adding that our religion , teachings of Holy Prophet (PBUH), Father of the Nation and Constitution all emhasize the protection and wellbeing of minorities. He highlighted that the Constitution of Pakistan ensures equal rights to all minorities.

The meeting concluded with the Pope praying for Pakistan’s progress and prosperity and expressing good wishes for the people of Pakistan.
