The label shows various nutrients and their quantities per serving. Here are some of the key points you can find on a nutrition facts …

Serving size: This tells you how much food is in one serving. It is important to pay attention to this because the nutrient amounts listed are based on this serving size. The label may also show how many servings are in the entire container. In the image, one serving is 1 cup (228g) and there are 2 servings per container.

Calories: This tells you how much energy you will get from one serving of the food. In the image, one serving has 250 calories.

Fat: This section shows the total amount of fat, saturated fat, and trans fat in one serving. In general, it is recommended to limit intake of saturated and trans fats. The label does not show recommended daily value (DV) for trans fat because experts recommend avoiding it completely.

Cholesterol: This shows the amount of cholesterol in one serving. In the image, one serving has 30mg of cholesterol.

Sodium: This shows how much sodium is in one serving. The label shows 470mg of sodium per serving.

Carbohydrates: This section shows the total amount of carbohydrates, dietary fiber, and sugars in one serving. Dietary fiber is important for gut health. Sugars include both natural and added sugars.
