PESHAWAR – Edwards College in Peshawar, once known as one of the premier educational institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has now become a hub of crime. Seventy percent of the province’s bureaucracy has graduated from this college. However, it is now beset by scandals and corruption, leaving the administration helpless in the face of rising lawlessness. The college has been taken over by a notorious gangster group known as “Baoo”. The gang is involved in a variety of criminal activities that have thrown the institution into disarray. Despite the gravity of the situation, the principal and management seem helpless to restore order.The widespread influence of this group has corrupted the educational environment, and even the teachers of the college are reluctant to admit their children to the institution. A visit to the college in the evening reveals evidence of rampant drug use. Drug-laced cigarettes and occasional empty liquor bottles are found lying around the premises, painting a vivid picture of the college’s decadence. The once prestigious institution has now become a haven for crime and is suffering from neglect. Reports suggest that students often indulge in illicit activities, including relations with boys and various other crimes. The gangster group “Baoo” is allegedly leading the sale of alcohol and drugs within the college, further disrupting the student body and undermining the institution’s educational mission.The current state of Edwards College has left many in shock and disbelief. Despite the involvement of criminal elements, government authorities and intelligence agencies remain conspicuously silent and inactive. Their inaction has raised questions and concerns among the public, who are worried about the lack of intervention in a situation that clearly needs urgent attention. As Edwards College grapples with these challenges, the community is left to ponder the future of an institution that was once a pillar of academic excellence. The hope remains that with concerted effort and decisive action, Edwards College can be restored to its former glory and continue to contribute to the intellectual and moral development of future generations.
