CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif Meets Sophia Shakeel, ADB Director Human & Social Development

“Training of human resource is in my top priorities,” said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif in a meeting with Ms Sophia Shakeel, Director Human and Social Development, Asian Development Bank (ADB). Matters related to cooperation in education, health and social protection were discussed in the meeting. Madam Chief Minister added, “Health and education are very close to my heart, many projects have been initiated in 60 days.”
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, “The Clinic on the Wheels project will contribute a lot for the treatment of unserved people.” She added, “We are building the first government-run autism school in Punjab.”
Asian Development Bank (ADB) reiterated its commitment to collaborate for the improvement of lives of citizens in order to achieve sustainable development. It was agreed in the meeting to adopt innovative thinking for the improvement of health and education sectors.
The Asian Development Bank also assured its support for the improvement of nursing sector. It was agreed to take immediate steps for the uplift of the field. Upgradation of nursing schools and establishment of center of excellence in nursing were also reviewed.
Ms Sofia Shakeel acknowledged that Punjab is better and ahead of other provinces in many areas.” She added, “We want to work together with the Punjab government to tackle the challenge of climate change.”
Senator Pervaiz Rasheed and Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb attended the meeting. Chief Secretary, Chairman P&D, Principal Secretary to CM and other relevant officers were also present.
