ISLAMABAD- In the aftermath of the tragic deaths of Chinese citizens within the Malakand range, a surge in public outcry has emerged an increase day by day and they demanding for the suspension of DIG Malakand, Muhammad Ali Gandapur. The demand gained momentum following vocal appeals from prominent figures such as ANP leader Aimal Wali Khan and the Pakistan People’s Party. Seeking to salvage his position, DIG Malakand Muhammad Ali Gandapur embarked on a desperate bid to secure support, including a visit to the residence of Barrister Gohar Ali Khan in Buner, where he pleaded not to be held accountable for the murders of the Chinese nationals. Furthermore, DIG Malakand has been engaging in meetings with leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in the Malakand region in a bid to garner their trust and support. Meanwhile, it has come to light that IGP, in a controversial move, sacrificed DIG Hazara Ejaz Khan to shield his brother-in-law amidst the escalating crisis. The Chinese embassy in Islamabad has expressed dissatisfaction with both the deaths of their citizens and the perceived politicization of the government’s inquiry into the matter, further complicating the situation. The unfolding events have cast a shadow over the region, prompting calls for transparency, accountability, and justice in the handling of this tragic incident.
