QUETTA: The World Bank has started the Integrated Flood Resilience and Adaptation Project costing Rs. 8.8 billion for construction and repair of different infrastructure affected during floods in the Balochistan province.
In addition to this, the World Bank is also going to start another project of 100 million US dollars namely Balochistan Water Security Productivity Improvement Project. This project would help meet the water shortage in Quetta city besides improving the Kachhi plane flood management.
This was informed by the delegation of World Bank who called on the Provincial Minister for Irrigation, Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani here on Monday.
The team leader of World Bank, Yoro Sidibe led the delegation.
Also present on the occasion were Secretary Irrigation, Hafiz Abdul Majid, Project Director of Balochistan Integrated Water Resource Management and Development Project, Barkatullah Kakar and other concerned high ups.
The members of delegation briefed the ongoing and new projects of the World Bank.
It was informed that the Balochistan Integrated Water Resource Management and Development Project would complete in beginning of year 2025.
This project is being executed at cost of Rs. 14.747 billion.
The Provincial Minister on the occasion appreciated World Bank’s initiatives in water sector in the province.
He directed to the concerned authorities to ensure best quality of work on the projects with transparency.
