B y Aijaz Mughal Umer kot, Today we have a Ingruation Cermoney of Fifty Newly appointed Agricultural Gauradates belongs from District Umerkot& Tharparker as Field Facilatator under FAO – AZRC Umerkot Joint Project at AZRC,Umerkot.
Azizullah Shah Chief Scientific Officer CSO/ Senior Director was a Chief Guest.
On this occision Mr Azizullah Shah Chief Scientific Officer CSO Senior Director Arid Zone Research Center AZRC Umerkot Sindh highlighted the importance pastureland through Six Natural Resources Management (NRM) Scheme which will established during the project life one at Amharar village District Umerkot alongwith construction of Rain Water Harvesting Pond of 100×100×8 feet hight for storage of rainwater during MoonSoon season for drinking,livestock and plantation of different grasses in the grazing areas for their livestock .The water Reservoir will be fenced through Ji pipes still fencing wirefor their human & livestock protection and in the basement a Geo Membrane will be used for water seepage and Five sites will be developed at District Tharparkar as well as 278(139+139 villages in each district) Demonstration Plots each of one Acer will be established at 278 villages of District Umerkot and District Tharparkar.
Total 200 acers of Pastures land will be rehabilitated through seeding & reseeding of different drought & stress resistance grass suitable for that areas will provided by AZRC,Umerkot for these sites.
A good quality of seed of different crops will provided to 278 Demonstration Plots under this project as well as land preparation will be made under this project by involving the Local Pastoral Communities of District Umerkot & Tharparker. Integrated Natural Resources Management Approach (INMR),Sustainable Agricultural Practices(SAP),Climate Smart Agricultural(CSA) Practices will be adopted during project execution.
A Local Seed Bank will be developed at Local Farming Community of District Tharparker from local available materials and proper Fumigation will be made for preservation of Own produced Seed for next Sowing Season.
So this is a more viable project which will help the local Farming Communities.
