More than 8,89,000 kids to be vaccinated:

QUETTA: The special anti-polio campaign is scheduled to be launched in 11 districts of Balochistan from today (Monday).
The Coordinator, Emergency Operation Center (EOC) for polio eradication, Syed Zahid Shah informed that all the necessary arrangements have been made for the special immunization campaign being started from Monday in the province.
The campaign is being run in Chaman, Dera Bugti, Hub, Lasbela, Naseerabad, Sibi, Jaffarabad, Kech, Khuzdar, Usta Muhammad and Sohbat pur.
According to EOC Coordinator, it has been targeted to vaccinate more than 8,89,000 children below five years of age during the five-day special immunization campaign.
Over 3,378 teams would be taking part in the campaign to whom full security would be provided, the EOC Coordinator added.
They are included: 2,641 mobile teams, 306 fixed site and 228 transit point teams.
He mentioned that two polio cases have been reported recently from Balochistan after gap of three years.
These cases have been reported from Chaman and Dera Bugti, Syed Zahid Shah mentioned.
The EOC Coordinator said that all available resources are being mobilized to ensure complete eradication of polio from the province.
He said that the special immunization campaign is being launched after the reporting of two fresh polio cases and prevalence of the virus in environmental samples.
He urged the parents to ensure administration of anti-polio drops to their children during the campaign as it is very important for achieving the goal of polio eradication.
