ENSURE DELIVERY OF MEDICINES TO PATIENTS’ DOORSTEPS AT THE EARLIEST: CHIEF MINISTER MARYAM NAWAZ SHARIF

Lahore, : “Strict legal action should be taken against corrupt mafias in government hospitals,” said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif while chairing a 3-hour long meeting to review health sector projects.

Secretary Health gave a detailed presentation on public sector hospitals, medicines and other matters related to health reforms. Madam Chief Minister was briefed that under “Health at your doorstep” initiative, 15 lakh citizens will be provided treatment through field hospitals, and 40 lakh others will be treated through clinics-on-wheels. Madam Chief Minister directed to make the field hospitals and clinics-on-wheels projects fully functional as soon as possible. She also directed to construct, repair and upgrade all Rural Health Centres and Basic Health Units. Madam Chief Minister was briefed that the upgradation of 2500 BHUs and 300 RHCs across the province will be complete this year.

The Chief Minister also directed to build Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology Sargodha on the land adjacent to DHQ, and complete Phase-I of the cancer hospital in Lahore this year. The Chief Minister was briefed that the entire hospital will be built in 2 years. She said,”In Punjab’s first major government cancer hospital, patients of every stage will be treated.” She directed to engage best cancer specialists in the world there.

Moreover, Madam Chief Minister directed to ensure presence of doctors and medical staff in every government hospital, because we want to provide best medical facilities for people in every district.

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Khawaja Imran Nazir, Chief Secretary, Chairman P&D, Secretary C&W, Dr. Adnan and other relevant officers attended the meeting.
