17th National Undergraduate Medical Research Conference (UMR) 2024 begins s at PMC

The 17th National Undergraduate Medical Research Conference (UMR) 2024
was formally inaugurated at Peshawar Medical College in Peshawar,
marking the commencement of two days of intellectual exchange and
collaboration within the medical research community. The event was
graced by distinguished personalities, educators, and researchers from
various leading academic institutions and cities across the country.
The Chief Guest for the inauguration ceremony was Professor Dr. Zahoor
Ahmad Swati, former VC Agriculture University, who formally inaugurated
the conference. Dr. Nadeen Akhtar, CEO of HCC, KP, was a Guest of
Honour. Also present were Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, CEO, Shahid Warsi, CEO
of AFAQ, Prof. Dr. Hafizur Rahaman, Dean, PMC, Prof. Dr. Saeed Anwar,
Executive Director, Prof. Dr. Aman Khan, Principal PMC, and Prof. Dr.
Shamim Akhtar, Principal PDC. The conference was jointly organized by
PMC, PDC, and RNC.
Dr. Hala Rajab, Director UMR, PMC welcomed the guests and highlighted
the conference’s significance as a platform for researchers to present
their findings and exchange ideas.
The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Swati, applauded the organizers
for creating a platform for youth to share their experiences. He
emphasized the importance of utilizing the abundant resources of the
country and expressed concern over the drain of talent from the country.
Dr. Swati believed that the youth, capable and full of potential, could
steer the nation away from crises and called for a collective effort to
address the challenge.
Shahid Warsi, CEO of AFAQ, highlighted the significance of data-driven
decision-making, advocating for a factual approach towards sustainable
development and profitability. Dr. Nadeen Akhtar, CEO of HCC, KP,
stressed the importance of research with a focused and goal-oriented
approach to make a difference in disease control and management.
Prof. Dr. Hafizur Rahaman, Dean PMC, advocated for a holistic approach
to deal with human health and lauded the efforts of the conference
organizers. He condemned the genocide of Palestinians by Israel and
appealed to support the cause of free Palestine.
The conference, with its objectives of providing a platform for emerging
researchers, facilitating discussions on modern trends, fostering
effective research methodologies, and guiding participants on the
process of publishing research, promises two days of diverse activities.
These activities include a quiz competition, research poster
competition, research verbal competition, plenary sessions, videography
competition, research skill stations, panel discussions, and hands-on
sessions on practical knowledge and skills.
The 17th National Undergraduate Medical Research Conference aims to
stimulate intellectual curiosity, promote collaboration, and contribute
to the advancement of medical research in Pakistan.
