Rescue & relief activities continues: Situation in Gwadar critical due to torrential rains: DG PDMA

QUETTA: The Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Jahanzaib Khan has stated that situation is critical in Gwadar due to torrential rains.
However, the rescue and relief activities are continued in the rain hit areas of Gwadar, maintained Director General PDMA while speaking to the media persons on Friday.
He said that 187 millimeter rain was recorded during last two days. The efforts are continued to drain out the rain water in the port city, he added.
The DG said that PDMA is taking part in the rescue and relief operation along with Pak Army, Navy, district administration and other institutions in Gwadar.
He informed that the people affected due to water have been shifted to the safer places in Gwadar.
To a query, DG PDMA said that rains would remain continued in the province during next couple of days.
The alert letters have been issued to the concerned district administration for tackling any emergent situation, he mentioned adding that we are in close coordination with the respective Deputy Commissioners.
While on the other hand, the control room is fully functional in the PDMA Quetta.
Earlier, as per the report shared by PDMA with media, more than 140 houses were completely or partially damaged during rains in Gwadar.
Two roads and a bridge was also damaged due to the devastating rains in the port city, stated in the PDMA’s report.
